Openness is important for many applications. That’s why B&R offers all important fieldbus connections in various different form factors for all of their control systems. Connecting third-party devices is completely integrated in Automation Studio using EDS and GSD description files or FDT/DTM technology. And in the other direction, fieldbus slave modules (bus controllers) allow seamless integration of B&R I/O systems on third-party controllers.

As a successor to classic fieldbus technology, POWERLINK provides uncompromising performance and real-time capabilities based on the established global standard, Ethernet. A transmission speed of 100 Mbit/s and a synchronization accuracy of +/- 100 ns allow even the most demanding tasks in the areas of control engineering, robotics, CNC and motion control to be combined in a single network.

Fieldbus DESIGNER

Complete integration of the fieldbus system in Automation Studio allows the selected fieldbus to be displayed and configured in the hardware tree. Easily select your modules from the hardware tree, I/O configuration for master and slave settings, assign process variables to I/O, Libraries for special types of access, connect fieldbus I/O channels.

Networked & Integrated Safety

In contrast to hardwired safety PLCs and circuits, B&R’s integrated safety solution runs on the same Ethernet Powerlink network and integrates with B&R controllers and I/O. contributes to productivity with diagnostics, safe motion, safe robotics and zoning, without requiring full machine shut downs. B&R safety devices monitor, prevent, and react to machine faults to help increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption and downtime.
